My First Tweet

My First Tweet
One of the fascinating things about Twitter is the huge ecosystem that has emerged providing Twitter-related services – some of them useful (e.g. search) and many them of just entertaining, puzzling or weird.

In the puzzling category is “My First Tweet”, which is a database that lets you see your first Tweet or the first Tweet of other people.

I’m not sure why people want/need to know about their first Tweet given Tweets – and, for that matter, blog posts – are so disposable in this digital age. In other words, what does it matter?

That said, it is interesting to see some of the first Tweets on Twitter, including those of the founders. And for what it’s worth, my first Tweet was: Time Magazine’s Strange Top-10 List http://tinyurl.com/2hyjpd

As for why My First Tweet was created, Noah says:

I have been thinking a lot lately about the idea that the web is just a giant social experiment and we are all amateur anthropologists. So with that in mind I decided to build My First Tweet. The idea is simple, create a giant database of people’s first words on Twitter so that we can all analyze them.
