What’s New with Pownce?

When it comes to microblogging, Twitter gets most of the spotlight – and traffic – but there are a growing number of players involved.

One of the oldest – and I use that term liberally – is Pownce, which was founded by Digg’s Kevin Rose, Leah Culver, Daniel Burka and Shawn Allen.

The Social Media Bible recently did an interview with Culver about what’s going on with Pownce.

Here’s a graph showing Pownce and Twitter’s traffic. To be honest, I’m not sure why Pownce isn’t more popular given it a more feature-rich service than Twitter. Perhaps it has to do with the fact Twitter is where the partying is happening, and no one wants to be on the outside looking in.

I completely agree with you. Pownce should be more widespread. I with that there would be a tectonic shift that shoves Pownce over Twitter. It’s just like Myspace vs. Facebook.
