Twitter Grader: Vanity Play

Twitter Grader
Falling into the entertainment/fun category is Twitter Grader, which lets you see if where you rank as a Twitter power user.

The criteria for Twitter Grader is:

- The number of followers you have

- The power of this network of followers

- The pace of your updates

- The completeness of your profile

- …and a few others

Now, I scored a 97.7, which means I graded higher than 97.7% of the other user profiles that have been graded. The question is what does that mean? Is that cause for celebration, concern or perhaps envy given there are 2.3% people ahead of me.

Ah Twitter, such a distraction.
:)

More: Twitter Grade is the creation of HubSpot, which runs an in-bound marketing system. Some of its other tools include Web Site Grader.

    99.9 baby!

It’s a strange system because it is a sliding grade depending on how many people have used the app. For a while I was 100% then like 95 or 96, then 97, now 99.9. It’s interesting, an interesting use of data mining tools for sure.

The other interesting thing is the regional thing (top in x location), it’s based on the actual words in your location in your profile so Vancouver, Vancouver, BC, and Vancouver, BC, Canada, and YVR are all different to it.

That said, I’m on top for Vancouver, BC. ;-)

    Sadly, I don’t think I’m #1 in Toronto. :)

That said, Twitter Grade is a good way to take a break.

is it cool? Yes. Is it a distraction? Yes? is it accurate? Not so sure.

It weighs the strength of your followers as how powerful your account is so how viral your message could go. I”m assuming the theory is if all your people re tweeted your words how much reach it can get.

What I’m most curious about is if there has been any studies on the statistical probability of a re tweet based on # of followers? I’m noticing people with many many followers are typically less likely to retweet something where people with fewer friends are more likely to.

If the top people following you don’t retweet much… Know what I’m getting at?
