Sending Money? Just Twitter It

Twitpay
Look out Western Union and Paypal because Twitter is coming to eat your lunch when it comes to sending people money.

Well, that’s what TwitPay is hoping with a new service that lets you send people money via Twitter. So, if you owe someone $5, you simply go to TwitPay, fill in the person’s Twitter ID, the amount you want to send them, and what you’re paying them for.

In theory, it’s an interesting idea because it’s another vehicle for quick online payments. The big hurdle in attracting users is that all these transactions – money you send and money you collect – goes through TwitPay. This means you have trust them to handle your money, which is a huge leap a faith for anyone using a new and unproven service.

For anyone who has checked out TwitPay today, the company didn’t do themselves any favors by having their site go down.
