More Cash for Tumblr

What is with VCs and their fascination with microblogging services with no business models.

In particular, what is it with Union Square Ventures, which has invested $4.5-million – along with Spark Capital – in Tumblr. Union Square also has an investment in Twitter.

Tumblr is another interesting platform and it has a growing number of users but it makes no revenue. Like Twitter, Tumblr hints it’s working on a business plan but it doesn’t see advertising as where it’s going to make most of its money. So, if it isn’t advertising, then what kind of premium features will it be able to sell to users?
