Even Famous People are on Twitter

Jimmy Fallon
There are two ways to know that an online service has potentially jumped the shark.

One is your father looks up from the Sunday New York Times, and asks, “So, what is Twitter?”; the second is when celebrities begin to climb on the bandwagon.

I read a Tweet from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone (@biz) that comedian Jimmy Fallon (@jimmyfallon) is apparently now using Twitter. This follows in the footsteps of other celebs such as Britney Spears, Al Gore and Shaq O’Neil.

So, what does that say about Twitter when even famous people want to use it. Is Twitter the new e-mail in that it’s becoming so ubiquitous that everyone even famous people are interested?

Maybe celebrities are pro-actively embracing Twitter because they’re concerned that if they don’t do it, someone will hijack their Twitter identities. Look at what happened to Shaq. Someone else was pretending to “The Diesel” before Shaq got involved.
