Comcast’s Twitter Star

Comcast
In light of yesterday’s post about how companies should use Twitter, BusinessWeek has an interesting article looking at how U.S. cable company Comcast is using Twitter as a customer service tool.

The many behind Comcast’s Twitter account is Frank Eliason, who BusinessWeek’s describes as “the most famous customer service manager in the U.S., possibly in the world”.

While Comcast’s embrace of Twitter may not be applicable to most companies, it does seem like a smart move for companies who sell consumer-facing products and services.

You could see, for example, how Starbuck’s, McDonald’s, Tim Horton’s and Wal-Mart could use Twitter effectively to communicate with consumers.

Comcast’s Twitter account is @comcastcares.
