Who’s Following Who?

Friend or FollowAt the core of what makes Twitter so powerful is useful are the people you follow and those who follow you.

That said, it can be a challenging to gain insight into both camps. After a while, you lose track of the people follow as more people get added to your Twitter ecosystem. At the same time, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of who’s following you, particularly that tools such as Mr. Tweet make it easier than ever people to follow you.

If you’re looking for a useful and user-friendly tool to gain insight into both camps, give Friend or Follow a whirl. Created by Dusty Reagan (@dustyreagan), Friend or Follow has three features:

1. You can see who you’re following but – sniff, sniff – who’s not following you back.

2. You can see who’s following you

3. You can see who you’re following

Friend of Follow has a nice interface in which each person included on the three lists has their photo displayed. As well, you can hover over a particular photo to see details such as their name, location and number of followers.

Ideally, it would be great if there was an advanced feature that gave you a snapshot of their recent Tweets to get a quick handle on how they use Twitter. In the case of people following you, it would make it easier to determine if they were worth following back.

While Friend or Follow is a solid tool, there’s still room for a Twitter follow/following service that provides insight into each group and make it easier to see who’s who. Some other options people might want to consider are Tweepler and Mr. Tweet.

I like F or F… especially since i discovered there were thre tabs (I initially thought it was just for showing who I was following that was not following me back – just one of the tabs).

It has been wrong (one of my followers consistently pops up in the not following me list… you can double check by opening that person's profile and seeing if you have the ability to message them, which means they are following you.

What is also fun about this is I can look at some of the more famous tweeps and run their profile too… Who is @ev or @hodgman following that is not following them back? That said, you can't double-check the accuracy of those results.
