Twitter Apps, Anyone?

If you believe in the concept of having too much of a good thing, then it definitely applies to the Twitter-sphere.

The number of interesting, entertaining, useful and distracting Twitter applications continues to grow at a break-neck pace as developers dream up new ways to leverage Twitter. The most difficult part is keeping up with whats happening, and then trying to figure out what you should use.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of directories that are hoping to make the discovery and selection process easier. TechCrunch put the spotlight on five recently, while Mashable – which never does any reviews in small batches – looked at 15.

A directory that caught my eye is twtbase, which features a user-friendly interface using logos to show selections on the Web, desktop, mobile and browser plug-ins. It’s certainly not the most comprehesive or extensive directory but for most people, it’s probably enough of a selection to get you started in the right direction.
