Business Should Get on Twitter…Now!

According to a survey done by Abrams Research of more than 200 “social media leaders”, 40% of respondents selected Twitter as the leading social media service for businesses.

LinkedIn came in a distant second (21.3%), followed by YouTube (18.8%), and Facebook (15.3%).

That said, 32.2% of respondents say they would pay for Facebook; followed by 29.7% for LinkedIn, and 21.8% for Twitter.

Peter Sorenfrei (@researchguy)and I did a survey in the fall where we asked 240 Twitter users about their perceptions on brands and we found similar results. For example, 89% of respondents agreed that Brands should engage with their customers on Twitter. You can find the survey at http://www.scribd.com/doc/7926212/Twitter-Brand-P…

Although a big twitter fan for business, I am advising clients to put an assemblage of tools together…to create a compelling social media infrastructure….There is no one killer app…and it is doubtful there will ever be one…and lets keep learning together…

Agreed. Twitter can be an excellent communications and marketing tool but it's part of an overall plan. Thanks for the comment.

Also, there is presently alot of "Twitter noise", which I describe as "cocktail Twitter" the novelty effect, people making fun, writing about it, and not actually informed as to the benefits of Twitter as a strategic tool…this will take time, and professionals should caution clients, before having a good plan in place.
