You have to believe Twitter is poised to make the leap from the geeks to the mainstream when people such as Toronto Mayor David Miller have caught the Twitter bug.
Miller told the National Post that he was “captured” by Twitter. “I like to give people a sense of what’s happening from a city perspective. I tweeted that we were at this announcement. People will re-tweet that. I tweeted when members of council asked for a TTC fare hike because I thought people should know that. So, that’s one part.”
Miller’s Twitter is @mayormiller.

Hey Mark. In my opinion, Mayor Miller is using Twitter very smartly. His tweets are mostly related to the City and relevant its citizens, so people who follow him receive valuable information from his tweets, but he tosses in just enough personal info (time with his kids; going for a 5am run) that we get a sense of the person that he is. He's positioning himself as young and vital, passionate and engaged and all this will serve him well in his political career. I'm a Twitter newbie myself, I must admit, but from a communications perspective it is easy to see that the Mayor is on the right track.
Hope your new venture is going well!
