How Active are Your Friends?

TwitoriaOne of the challenges in using Twitter is finding just the right people to follow – unless you fall into the Robert Scoble/Guy Kawasaki camp where you should follow anybody and everybody.

For anyone looking for a tool to see whether the people you follow are being active on Twitter, check out Twitoria.

Created by “a twenty-something in about 12 hours”, Twitoria shows who hasn’t updated in the past week, two weeks, month, six months, year and two years. This gives you some insight into whether people who are rarely posting updates on Twitter should be followed any more.

I also do not like following people who tweet every two seconds. I think I will go look at that site.

    Thanks,

But if they're not tweeting at all, or much, what's the downside of following them? And people who tweet a lot are already obvious, aren't they? I don't see much value here…

many services online rank your activity on twitter and one of the parameters taken into account is the followers / friends ratio and the higher is, the better is… that said, cleaning the list of people you follow is very useful

But a simple followers/friends ranking is almost meaningless. If you look at that for an indication of whether somebody is worth following, you are looking at the wrong thing:-)

it's not, but it can be taken into account together with an appropriate weight… I posted some criteria here http://tinyurl.com/bn8738

I think a simple follower count is a more useful measure than friend/follower ratio, actually. The other criteria on your blog are spot on…

This is a pretty useful service. As you said, this can be used to decide whether to follow any person who has been inactive for a long time
