With all the great services being developed to enhance, expand and bolster Twitter, it’s puzzling that there haven’t been more coming from Canada given our enthusiasm for social networks and Twitter. Toronto, for example, ranks among the top-10 cities in the world in terms of Twitter usage.
It’s encouraging, however, to see a new Twitter service called Tweetizen from Adarsh Pallian, who hails from Vancouver. Tweetizen is a simple tool that lets you create groups based on your interests, or friends/family.
For a group based on interests, you use keywords and tags. For groups, you provide the Twitter usernames of the people you want to include. In an ideal world, it would be good if Tweetizen provided a list of your followers so you could quickly add to them to a new group. TweetDeck offers this functionality within its group creation tool.
Tweetizen said it has “some big plans” for future releases, including the ability to embed your groups on your Web site or blog. It is also working on multiple blog plugins to embed your groups to your blogs.
