Why are celebrities embracing Twitter with so much enthusiasm? Every time you turn around, there’s another celebrity jumping on the bandwagon.
There are a couple of major things at play. The first is ego. Celebrities have huge egos so it goes without saying that many of them believe their fans have an interest in getting more insight into what they’re doing, eating, seeing, etc.
The second is Twitter is user-friendly and an easier way to reach out to fans than a blog, which many celebrities haven’t embraced. Twitter takes little time to do, and it can be done any time and any where. This means Twitter is user-friendly even by celebrities who don’t have the a lot of time or strong writing skills.
The other consideration is there are many people hungry for all kinds of celebrity news. Look at how many people buy People magazine or the National Enquirer so they can get a celebrity fix. Twitter is another way to satisfy the need for celebrity news – and it’s created by the celebrities themselves!

I only wish that they would stay out. I think most "celebrities" are ruining American morals.
Thanks,
