In the high-tech world, Techmeme has emerged as one of the places to get the biggest news by aggregating and ranking thousands of stories.
In the Twittersphere, there have been a few attempts to create something like Techmeme but, to date, nothing with the same kind of sizzle and appeal has materialized.
One of the more interesting contenders is Tweetmeme, a service that aggregates the most popular links on Twitter to determine the most popular. Tweetmeme then categorizes these links into categories and subcategories.
Having looked at Tweetmeme several months ago, the service has come a long way, particularly the interface, which has become a lot more user-friendly. And Tweetmeme does do a pretty good job of displaying the biggest news based on the views of the Twitter users.
All in all, it’s worth checking out. Who knows, maybe Tweetmeme is yet another blow to RSS, which seems to be losing its appeal among the digiterati.
More: TechCrunch has a bubbly post on Tweetmeme, describing it as “freakin’ awesome”.

For some reason I cannot go on to the Tweetmeme website directly.
