Twitter’s New Follower Tool Still Bad

I received a notification from Twitter about a new follower earlier this week. It was interesting for a couple of reasons:

1. It was the first new follower notification from Twitter in months, even though I’ve been steadily adding new followers.

2. It offers little value-add other than letting me know about a new follower. There’s no information about the new follower, or links to their Twitter stream, Web site, profile, etc.

You would think that Twitter would be doing a better job in terms of follower notifications but it’s yet another area where third-party developers such as TwittFilter are doing a much, much better job.
