A Shopping List for Twitter

A new Twitter Obsession – including mine – is what acquisitions should Twitter make to further establish itself as the leading microblogging platform.

We know from the secret internal documents publishing by TechCrunch that Twitter was taking a hard look at CoTweet, which is a multiple-account publishing tool. But, to date, Twitter has only made a few deals, including Summize, despite having lots of money to do some serious deal making.
The Blog Herald put the spotlight on four potential deals that Twitter could make:
- Friendfeed: While Twitter is a no-frills service, Friendfeed pretty much offers everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to aggregates all of your digital activity in a single place.
- Twitpic: With more than 1.5 million users, TwitPic dominates the Twitter/photo market. Given the rise of smartphones and the fact many of them are coming with better cameras, TwitPic would be a great move for Twitter.
- Bit.ly: Twitter already has a strong relationship with Bit.ly, a URL shortening service, after making it the default URL shortener. If Twitter is interested in making analytics a part of premium services, the ability to have Bit.ly as part of that technology portfolio makes a lot of sense.
- TwitterFeed: For anyone who wants to automatically feed an RSS feed into Twitter, Twitterfeed is the tool. Of the four potential deals, this one strikes me as least likely given the technology could probably be done internally.
What do you think Twitter should buy, and why?

    I would add the following:
    http://Refollow.com for Follower management.
A Hashtag definition service like http://WTHashtag.com
A live stream service like monitter or tweetabs

I really enjoy your blog and consider it a must read for an Twitter user that is serious about usage and updates. Thanks
