Tools to Manage Friends and Followers

This being #followfriday, I figured it was a good opportunity to provide a list of tools to manage your followers, the people following you, and ways to find new people to follow.

Keep in mind, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of these kind of tools out there. Some of them promise thousands of new followers, which should be viewed with skepticism.

1. Mr. Tweet: One of the biggest challenges in using Twitter is finding people to follow. Mr. Tweet meets this need by looking at you and your updates, and then matching them against other Twitter users to make recommendations on who you should follow. One of the good things about Mr. Tweet is there’s lots of information displayed about potential new followers, which makes it easier to decide if you want to actually follow them.

2. Friend or Follow shows who you’re following who’s not following you back, as well who’s following you who you’re not following. (Following me, so far?) Friend or Follow shows who you’re following and who’s following you.

3. Ever wondered whether about who someone else is following, and whether there was a way you could follow the same people? With Twtrfrnd, you can compare yourself against another Twitter user to see the same people that you’re both following, as well the people you follow that are following the other Twitter user.

4. Who Should I Follow: Another tool to find new followers. What’s particularly useful about it is the ability to use two slider bars to adjust the results to show people who are “less popular” or “more popular”, and/or anywhere in the world or closer to a particular location.

5. My Tweeple: My Tweeple shows people that you’re following and who’s following you. For people following you, you can follow them back, tag them, block them (a useful tool to get rid of SEO and spam folks), and “Ding ‘em”, which warns people about “bad apples”.
