If there was any doubt about Twitter’s popularity and growth, the latest numbers from comScore make it clear it is resonating with people around the world.
According to comScore, Twitter.com attracted 44.5 million unique visitors in June, a 19% increase from May. Based on data from Compete, which showed Twitter had 22.9 million unique visitors in the U.S. in June, the split between U.S. vs. non-U.S. is now 50/50.
As TechCrunch notes, the political upheaval in Iran must have played a key factor in Twitter’s growth outside the U.S.
If Twitter’s growth continues to grow at 20%/month, the number of unique global visitors could surpass 100 million by November.
Keep in mind that the traffic tracked by comScore and Compete doesn’t include Twitter users who never visit Twitter.com because they’re using third-party services such as TweetDeck, Seesmic, Tweetie, et al.
