Tweet Your Resume

Given the volatile economic conditions, a lot of people are turning towards social media as a way to build their networks and reach out to more people about employment opportunities. It explains why LinkedIn’s U.S. traffic has soared more than 50% this year, according to Compete.com.

Twitter is also proving to be a valuable resource for job hunters looking to spread the word about what they would like to do. An interesting service is TwitRes, which has an easy way to upload and publish your resume on Twitter. There are lots of tools to share documents on Twitter but TwitRes is hoping to carve out a niche by focusing on resumes.

To use TwitRes, you need to log in using Twitter information (username/pass). Then, you upload your resume, and post it on Twitter along with a message.

TwitRes was created by ResumePark, a resume hosting and discovery service that leverages social media networks, including LinkedIn, Facebook and MySpace.

I couldn't said it any better. Tough times are really competitive, job positions are filled with over qualified skills. Social media does help a lot to spread your search for the right position. You ought to be careful though in sharing too much information, it is still best to treat your application as professionally prepared as possible.

Great idea. I have a presentation I do for unemployed people where I say have your resume (even different ones) and cover letters on WordPress (easier than Blogger for this) and offer the link when you call or talk to someone. Makes you look current. They can view your resume while you talk and no faxing needed.
