Twitter vs. Facebook vs. LinkedIn

There’s been a lot of talk this week about Facebook now having 350 million users. To provide a sense of how Facebook’s growth compares with Twitter and LinkedIn, here are some charts from Compete.com. In October, Twitter’s unique visitors (U.S.) dropped 2.1%, while Facebook’s rose 3.5% and LinkedIn’s 3.29%. Over the past year, Twitter has seen growth of 577%, Facebook 188.6% and LinkedIn 89%.

Looks like growth is tapering off or slowing down

You're right; it looks like Twitter's growth in the U.S. has plateaued. I'm not sure whether it means Twitter's potential market is now saturated or whether it's just a pause in the action.

      Thanks for the comment!

These graphs are highly misleading because the Y axis is not zero-based on all of them. If it were, they would appear to tell a very different story about rates of growth. This is not a good use of statistics,

Fair point but it does provide some insight into how each service is growing month over month.

A bar has to start from zero but graphs can be free. This is quite ok for the purpose.
