A quick look at unique visitors to Twitter.com over the past six months is interesting – despite the hype, traffic if flat as the Prairies. In December, there were 22.8 million visitors with growth non-existent since June.
One theory: The rise of desktop, online and mobile publishing tools such as Tweetdeck, Seesmic, Tweetie, et al is killing Twitter.com, which has few bells and whistles. I wonder what the folks in Twitterville are thinking given the party is happening at someone else’s house. It makes you realize the value and utility of Twitter’s API.
Update: It’s interesting that while Twitter.com’s usage is flat, Twitter saw record usage today.
