Is Twitter.com about to get a major makeover?
TechCrunch’s MG Siegler ran hard with a tweet from Twitter engineer Alex Payne about that Twitter was working on some “nifty” new features that would deter people from using a desktop client.
Surprisingly, Siegler mostly uses Twitter.com so his excitement is understandable given Twitter.com’s low-frills UI, compared with Tweetdeck, Seesmic and Hootsuite. Sure, Twitter.com has added lists and trending topics recently it pales in comparison to the multi-column interfaces that make using Twitter so much more user-friendly.
That said, what features would make Twitter.com more compelling? Here’s a few suggestions:
1. The ability to display more than one column at a time.
2. A even better tool to find new friends based on interest or location.
3. Statistics to show the popularity of tweets such as how many times it had been retweeted, or have many times a particular link had been cited.
What would you add to Twitter.com?
