Twitter’s Growth: Slow and Steady

After a massive amount of growth in 2009, Twitter isn’t seeing as exciting growth in 2010 but it’s still, nevertheless, solid.

According to eMarketer, Twitter will have 26 million adult U.S. Twitter users in 2010, up 44.4% from 2009. By 2012, eMarketer believes nearly 20% of U.S. Web users, or 36 million people, will be on Twitter.

“The service is now firmly entrenched in the social media world,” said Paul Verna, eMarketer senior analyst and author of the new report, “Twitter: A Strong Current in the Social Media Mainstream.” “We expect usage levels to continue rising, albeit more moderately, through 2012.”
