Welcome to Twitter, Mr. Chavez

As some celebrities walk away from Twitter, it’s good to see politicians stepping up to the plate. A newly-minted member of the Twitterrati is Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, who already has nearly 260,000 followers, making him the most popular Venezuelan on Twitter.

According to Associated Press, Chavez joined Twitter last month as a way to deal with opponents using the social media service to make accusations against him. He encouraged his supporters to sign up, describing Twitter as “a weapon that also needs to be used by the revolution.”

Too bad Twitter doesn't have a "truth-o-meter" because this will be an account filled with lies, deception and manipulation of a country that will be left in ruins when he is finally ousted.
