Get Plugged in with Pluggio

I have tried a lot Twitter publishing tools – online services and desktop software. The biggest problem is while most of them are better than Twitter.com, they fail to match up well against Tweetdeck or Seesmic, which have my two go-to tools.

That said, an interesting new player is Pluggio, an online Twitter publishing tool that has an intuitive interface and a selection of solid features that make it more than just a way to read and post tweets.

Pluggio offers a free service that can handle five Twitter accounts, 1,000 API calls/day and 150 schedule messages per month. It also offers three premium packages for for $5 and $10 and $20/month with more features and capabilities.

To set up an account on Pluggio, you click on the “Add Twitter Account” icon, which connects to Twitter for authorization. Then, you can configure the different streams, and add search terms, groups and other Twitter users. Pluggio has also a “Friend Finder” feature and the ability to schedule tweets.

The only thing I didn’t like about Pluggio was a constant stream of reminders to look at their video tutorials, and the fact that the right-hand side of the screen has a menu of these videos that you can’t remove.

Bottom line: Pluggio is an attractive option for anyone looking for an alternative to Twitter.com. While Tweetdeck and Seesmic will appeal to power users who need multiple columns, Pluggio is a good choice for “regular” Twitter users looking for something with some interesting and useful bells and whistles.

Thanks for your review of Pluggio.

I've noticed a number of well respected Twitters using this appliance and wanted to learn more about it. You've neatly and succinctly explained not only what it is but how it compares with other well know Twitter devices.
