Combine Google and Twitter Searches

As Twitter’s status as a search engine powerhouse continues to gain momentum, search has emerged as one of the more fascinating part of the Twitter ecosystem with dozens of start-ups such as Twazzup, Topsy and Scoopler scrambling for a foothold.

A search engine looking to get a piece of the action is Tweetaboogle, which combines the power of Google and Twitter. After searching for a keyword(s) using Google, Tweetaboogle generates displays a Google results and associated tweets, although there’s no explanation on the Web site that explains how Tweetaboogle’s technology work.

For example, here’s results for “Blackberry 9800″, the newest BlackBerry that was introduced yesterday.

Tweetaboogle offers provides ways to do searches for video, images and blogs, as well as local searches. Here’s a blog search for the “BlackBerry 9800″.

The question facing Tweetaboogle is whether it can compete against players such as Twazzup, which I think offers a better and more comprehensive interface. For example, here’s what Twazzup generated for the “BlackBerry 9800″:

Bottom Line: Tweetaboogle provides a nice, clean interface that addresses the Google/Twitter search opportunity. The question is whether it’s enough to compete in a very crowded marketplace.
