Twitter and Google do an amazing job of telling people what’s happening so you might be interested in Tweet Peck, which combines Twitter and Google to provide a snapshot of what’s going on in a particular city.
To use TweetPeck, you provide the name of a city – in this case Toronto. TweetPeck shows the weather (a good feature for all those Twitter users who rarely venture outside), as well as the key trends and the live tweet stream.
By hovering over a trending topic, you can see two recent tweets. Clicking on a trending topic shows the live stream.

Tweet Peck provides “bonus” coverage by using Google to provide additional content (search, video, images and news) for a city or a trending topic. In this case, we’re looking at what Google has for “VoteTO”. There’s also a map but I’m not it’s particularly useful or relevant.

Bottom line: For anyone looking to get a quick sense of what’s happening on Twitter, as well as access to Google at the same time, Tweet Peck offers a good and interesting snapshot.

Thank you for your review of TweetPeck. I am the creator of TweetPeck.com, and it seems from your comments and those of others that I need to connect a blog to my site to better explain the site. For example the map does serve a purpose.. You can click on it to initiate a new search of Twitter and Google. It will return current topics (local trends) and recent Tweets, as well as a local Google search. It is also possible to open up the map by clicking on "Expand/Contract Map". Also for searching cities there is a drop down menu of cached cities that is accessible by clicking on the current city name above the weather. You can also click on the weather icon for a local 4 day forecast. So yes, there is quite a bit there that is not immediately obvious and needs some explanation. This is one of my first projects, and I am the first to admit that it needs some work. It is an ongoing project and I will be adding features to it within the next couple of weeks. As I already mentioned, I will also be starting a blog that will hopefully better explain what is possible with this "experiment" of mine. Thank you for all of your comments via Twitter and if you would like to follow my progress simply comment… @tweet_peck
